Taught By: Phil Norris
Room: Room 2
We’ve all heard the phrase: When the going gets tough, the tough get going. What about faith? Will your faith thrive in tough times? Do you desire a more resolute faith? The book of Daniel relates the familiar Sunday School stories of the lions’ den, the fiery furnace, and some remarkable prophecies, but take some time to investigate these stories more closely. How did Daniel, Shadrach, Meschach, and Abednego possess such a fearless faith? Perhaps no one in the Bible possessed a more resolute faith in God than these individuals. Daniel and his peers never took the easy way out, but stood their ground, even in face of death. There’s a lot to be learned from Daniel about unshakable faith. Study this extraordinary Old Testament book. Even more importantly, apply what you learn as you unfold both the explicit and implicit teachings to lead you to a more resolute faith.
2) Romans – Exp310
Taught by: Pastor Dick Bickings
Romans, Paul’s magnum opus, is placed first among his thirteen epistles in the New Testament. While the four Gospels present the words and works of Jesus Christ. Romans explores the significance of his sacrificial death. Using a question-and-answer format. Paul records the most systematic presentation of doctrine in the Bible. But Romans is more than a book of theology: it is also a book of practical exhortations. The good news of Jesus Christ is more than facts to be believed; it is also a life to be lived — a life of righteousness befitting the person “justified freely by His [God’s] grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus” (3:24) affected the New Testament beliefs and look to apply their dynamic message for us today.

Taught by: Richard Mastronardo
In today’s fast food, text messaging, instant gratification culture the idea of “Studying” is boring, laborious and time consuming. Yet throughout Scripture we are admonished to “Study to show yourself approved” and to “Meditate day and night.” But the Bible is so confusing, with epic stories, and ancient traditions that are obscure to our modern world. Yet we also realize these are God’s words. His revelation of His character, purpose and desires. As we go through this class we will learn how to read, study, interpret and apply the Scriptures. We will not just review a process, but also practice it by studying three books/passages together (Jonah, Galatians and a Psalm). So join us on this journey together as we endeavor to grow in our knowledge of God and His word.

Taught by: Scott Holwick & Matt Zmarzley
No other New Testament book evokes the same fascination, produces wider divergence of interpretation, and is less understood than the book of Revelation. The Bible was intended to be understood, and Revelation is no exception. Join us as we progress to understand the meaning behind the seals, trumpets, bowls and other symbols. But more importantly…to understand what it means for us today and to learn how this book of Revelation should make a difference in our day-to-day lives.

Why Should I Bother with Adult Electives?

In a time when we are all busy and rushing around, why should we add one more thing like Adult Electives to our plate? Sundays are full enough. Why do we need another thing to attend? Here are some reasons:
- To help you know Scripture:
During the elective hour, we have the opportunity to go deeper and learn about additional books of the Bible that we might avoid or push off as difficult.
- A place to ask ALL questions:
We usually don’t have an opportunity to ask questions during the sermon, but during the elective is a safe place to ask all kinds of questions and learn.
- To build relationships:
Through our time together, interactions, and sharing, we learn and grow together.
- To grow:
As we learn God’s Word and work to apply its truth, we grow in maturity, so come and see why so many spend the time with the Adult of Electives!
